Material Options

Wave top bags are produced in two primary polyethylene resins. The choice between them affects stiffness, clarity, print quality, and the gauge required to achieve a given load rating.

HDPE is the standard specification for food service and grocery applications where load capacity takes priority. LDPE is more common in retail settings where a softer hand feel and sharper printed presentation matter more than raw tensile performance.

Custom Options

Size should be selected based on the container footprint being packed, not just total volume — a bag that is wide enough but lacks gusset depth will not stand stably when loaded with tall containers. For catering and bulk grocery applications, gusset depths of 7" to 10" are typically recommended. Custom sizing is available across the full width and height range.

Thickness is also adjustable within specification. Note that many US jurisdictions define a minimum gauge — commonly 2.0 mil or above — for a bag to qualify as "reusable" under local single-use plastic ordinances. Buyers in regulated markets should confirm local requirements before finalizing gauge specifications.

Printing options include flexographic (letterpress), gravure (intaglio), oil-based inks, and water-based inks, with support for 1 to 8 color printing.

Material options include virgin resin, PCR (post-consumer recycled) content, and certified biodegradable constructions — available in both HDPE and LDPE.

Recyclability & Sustainability

Both HDPE (#2) and LDPE (#4) films are recyclable through store drop-off programs across the US under How2Recycle and similar schemes. Neither resin is accepted in most curbside programs. For consumer-facing applications, end-of-life disposal instructions printed on the bag are recommended. Sustainability upgrades — including PCR content, increased gauge to meet reusable thresholds, and fully biodegradable constructions — are available on request.
