Product Overview

An emesis bag is a disposable bag designed to collect vomit and bodily fluids in a hygienic, leak-proof, and odor-controlled way. It is a standard supply item across hospitals, ambulances, oncology units, home care, and travel scenarios. The core requirement is always the same: contain mess quickly, prevent contamination, and make disposal easy.

Product Variants

Standard Flat-Bottom Emesis Bag Gusseted base expands when filled. Made from multi-layer polyethylene film with heat-sealed seams. Capacity typically 500–1,000 ml. Most include graduated volume markings for clinical output tracking. The standard choice for hospital wards, emergency departments, and general medical use.

Twist-Cap with Rigid-Ring Opening Features a built-in flexible cap that seals the bag in a single twist — no contact with contents after use. A rigid ring keeps the opening stable so the bag can be used one-handed. Widely used in chemotherapy units, post-anesthesia care units, and ambulances where hygienic, fast sealing is critical.

Gel-Forming Emesis Bag (SAP Insert) Pre-loaded with superabsorbent polymer that solidifies liquid on contact. Eliminates sloshing, cuts odor significantly, and makes disposal safer. Recommended for moving vehicles, home care settings, and any situation where spillage risk is high.

Travel / Compact Bag Flat-packed and lightweight. Designed to sit in a glove compartment, carry-on bag, or first aid kit without taking up space. A reliable upgrade from the paper bags found in aircraft seatback pockets, which are not leak-proof.

Pediatric Size Smaller capacity (300–500 ml) with an easy-grip opening. Suitable for children's wards, pediatric clinics, and family travel use.

Biodegradable / Eco Option Made from plant-based or certified compostable film. Available for buyers with sustainability requirements or green procurement policies.

Core Features

Leak-proof construction. Multi-layer PE film with heat-sealed seams — not glued or press-fit. Tested to hold contents under pressure. This is the baseline requirement and the most important performance spec.

Rigid-ring opening. A reinforced collar keeps the bag open without the user holding it. Essential for patients with limited motor control, or in moving vehicles where both hands may not be free.

Hygienic single-motion seal. Twist-cap closure lets the user seal the bag in one action without touching the opening after use. Supports standard infection control protocols.

Odor control. Available with an activated carbon barrier layer or SAP gel insert. Especially relevant for enclosed spaces: ambulances, hospital rooms, car interiors.

Graduated volume markings. Printed measurement lines allow clinical staff to record output without additional measuring tools.

Rapid absorption and solidification. Integrated Super Absorbent Polymer (SAP) technology. Instantly converts liquid contents into a stable gel to prevent splashing, spills, or sloshing during transport. This physical containment minimizes the risk of cross-contamination and enhances odor suppression.

Applications

Emesis bags are used across a wide range of settings. In clinical environments: hospital wards and EDs (standard bedside supply), oncology and chemotherapy units (high-volume use, patient dignity matters), post-anesthesia recovery rooms (PONV management), ambulances and patient transport (gel-forming bags preferred here). In non-clinical settings: hospice and home care, pediatric use, motion sickness management for car, boat, and air travel, and emergency preparedness kits.

Customization & OEM

Huayue Group has been producing medical and consumer disposable packaging since 1998, with manufacturing bases in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Henan, and Cambodia. For emesis bags specifically, we support full OEM production — custom bag dimensions, film thickness, closure type, print branding, gel insert inclusion, and packaging format (individual wrap, bulk carton, retail-ready pack). We currently serve buyers in over 50 countries across the medical, retail, and e-commerce sectors, so we are familiar with the compliance and documentation requirements of different markets. If you have specific regulatory requirements — latex-free certification, EN or FDA documentation, or sustainability certifications for biodegradable variants — these can be confirmed during the sourcing process.
