Where the contacts on the flash would meet the hotshoe on a camera, some metal pieces not present on the flash. See photos. What is broken is the bottom piece which is the adapter for Minolta and Canon. You could buy an adapter if still available for Minolta or Canon. or find it for another brand such as Nikon. With another bottom piece adapter, it should be much better.
Flash turns in twist click stops at various angles.
