Jeanette Loff, an American actress who achieved recognition in Hollywood during the late 1920s and early 1930s.
Early Life and Career:
Born Janette Clarinda Lov in Orofino, Idaho, in 1906, Loff began her career as a lyric soprano and organist in Portland, Oregon. She later moved to Los Angeles and signed film contracts with Pathé Exchange and Universal Pictures.
Filmography:
She appeared in over twenty films, including notable roles in "Hold 'Em Yale" (1928), the controversial crime film "Party Girl" (1930), and "King of Jazz" (1930), where she showcased her soprano voice.
Later Life and Death:
After a successful but relatively short career, Loff tragically passed away in August 1942 at the age of 36. While her death was officially ruled a suicide, some sources suggest the possibility of foul play.
Legacy:
Despite her brief life, Loff's work in both silent and sound films left a lasting mark on Hollywood, particularly with the recent restoration of "King of Jazz".
