Vintage 1970’sPat Young Studio Fine Art Tea Cup And Saucer Service for FourFor your consideration is this functional art handbuilt ceramic set of four cups and saucers. The pieces were individually made by pressing geranium leaves, grown at the studio onto soft clay. They are delicate and light weight and glazed in a bright cheery yellow. Pat Young of Inverness, Florida ran the home based studio from 1954 -1980, "Creating our handmade original designs of fine ceramic gift ware, based on natural leaf patterns." Cultivation and selection of the plants used were greenhouse grown on site. Each original piece of ceramic art is handbuilt without a potters wheel or slip molds. The artist hand builds each piece from a flat slab of white china-grade earthenware clay. Once the clay has dried to the "green ware" stage, it is fired in kilns to the "bisque" stage, hand brushed with ceramic glazes and kiln fired a second time.By 1974 her ceramic art was sought after and sold in over 135 of the finest gift shops in America.No damage found, some slight signs of use.
