In 1955, Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas finally got a visa to Russia. He went on a tour of the country (not many people could then), it was the USSR at that time. He had been anxious to see what socialism under a totalitarian regime had done to a people and a nation. There is a map on the frontispiece that shows his route.
