This is stunning custom made black straw hat! The hat is black, but the medium width brim edging is made of a navy see-through wide band that has gorgeous gold straw designs, making this hat one of a kind! There is also a navy grosgrain band around the flat crown, which ends in a bow at the back. There is an elastic band attached to the inside of the hat to keep it in place.The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation.This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, furs, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age. Mannequin not for sale.
