Vintage Native American Hopi Jay Humeyestawa signed wave sterling 925 necklace

Vintage Jay Humeyestawa necklace in a traditional Hopi overlay design. This pendant is rare and hard to find. It is vintage and is a wonderful example of Hopi overlay work craftsmanship, which is intricate and amazing. Overlay describes a piece of silver with a design cut out of it, which is laid over a second piece of silver and soldered together. Jay carefully cut the triangular Native rain wave design out of silver. The design was carefully sawed out and then the piece. was soldered onto a sheet of plain silver, and the inside of the design (the cutout area) is oxidized to show up black beneath the polished silver layer.Signed on the back with Jay's hallmark with a bear paw. Comes on a long 925 sterling silver 22" snake chain. Natural, beautiful patina included.May need a cleaning depending on your preferences.
